Horseback Riding

Rockin' R Ranch in Bear Lake offers horse back riding, breakfast rides, dinner rides, all day rides, Dude Ranch - Old Western Theme Park/Town - and miles of private majestic hardwoods for riding. Family friendly and open year around.

Live Theatre

Visit the historic Ramsdell Theatre in Manistee for family-friendly live performances, tours and events all year round.

Other theaters in the area include West Shore Community College Performing Arts Series, Crooked Tree Arts Center, Old Town Playhouse, Interlochen and Leland Performing Arts Center.

Miniature Golf 

Northern Falls Mini Golf north of Manistee features an 18 hole mini golf course and Moomer's ice cream.

Movie Theaters 

Manistee's newly renovated Vogue Theatre in downtown Manistee boasts new first-run films and old classics alike. Opened year round.

Feeling nostalgic? The Cherry Bowl Drive-In in Honor is an old-fashioned drive-in with modern technology. Opened seasonally.

The Garden Theatre in downtown Frankfort gives you the classic movie theater experience with the comfort of a small neighborhood feel. Open year-round, and celebrating the inaugural Frankfort48 Film Festival in 2017.

Traverse City is home to many theaters, and the now famous Traverse City Film Festival, spearheaded by filmmaker Michael Moore.

Museums

With eight museums in Manistee County and plenty of historical sites, there is sure to be one that peaks your interest.  Start your tour and visit museums including The Kaleva Bottle House, the Manistee County Historical Museums and the Marilla Museum & Pioneer House.

M22

The beautiful scenic drive of M22 is something to behold! Voted America's Number One Best Scenic Autumn Drive for 2015 by 10Best and USA TODAY! Beginning just south of Onekama and winding up the coast of Lake Michigan, reaching the top of the Leelanau Peninsula and ending in Traverse City - it's like no other road in America. be seen, and with plenty of stops and sightseeing along the way, everyone will enjoy this drive.  Get your camera ready!

Sightseeing

Whether driving to the Arcadia Look Out or Elberta Bluffs or flying over the Lake Michigan shoreline with Orchard Beach Aviation, the area has many sights to see! Visit one of the nearby lighthouses - the Manistee North Pierhead Lighthouse or the Point Betsie Lighthouse - or both. After all, no two lighthouses are the same!

World-Class Fishing

Manistee County is home to world-class fishing, whether in the rivers, on the docks, on Portage Lake or out on the big lake. For fishing information and reports for the area, click here.  

There are many Charter Fishing boats available for rental and for trips - Netminders, Steelhead Hunters and Sandpiper III, just to name a few. It's time to reel in a big one! 

 

Life on the Water

Camp Tosebo is located a short stroll away from Portage Lake. Bring your boat or jet skis and enjoy hours on Portage Lake and Lake Michigan. Whether speeding or sailing, you'll enjoy hours of lake life living! Into kayaking and paddlesports? Bring your equipment or rent from Manistee Paddlesport Adventures, Onekama Marine, Crystal Lake Adventure Sports, Insta-Launch or MacDonald Marine.

Not into boating? Portage Lake and Lake Michigan are also perfect for swimming, sunning, surfing and windsurfing.

Nature at it's Finest

Manistee County is home to the Manistee National Forest and many hiking and biking trails. Both Tippy Dam and Hodenpyl Dam are just a short drive away. The Lake Bluff Bird Sanctuary is located just south on Lakeshore Drive, and tucked away in the National Forest is the Little Manistee River Wier. Catch the salmon runs in spring and fall for a unique experience.

It's the perfect area for wildlife viewing, hunting, fishing and exploring!
